My friend, Greg George<\/a>, tells me that I’m kind of harsh on franchisors. Greg is 100% right. I am<\/em> tough on franchisors. I’m harsh on franchisors when I see something they do that really frosts my as _. That’s why when I see Franchise CEO’s do what I’m about to describe they really get my attention<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

But First…<\/strong><\/p>\n

I want you to know that my delivery (when I call out a franchisor) is a bit intense-but my heart is always in the right place<\/em>.<\/p>\n

For example, I’d wager that the CEO of ActionCoach<\/strong> didn’t like what I wrote<\/a> about his concept. And?<\/p>\n

And I don’t care if Sugars liked it or not. It’s not like he’s a well-respected franchise person. For proof, check out this back and forth<\/a> concerning the Brad Sugars Wikipedia page that was deleted<\/strong>. (Even if he was well-respected, I still would have written that review<\/em>.)<\/p>\n

Enough about that sorry dude. Let’s move on to a very\u00a0positive thing that some<\/em> franchise CEO’s are willing to do.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Franchise Company CEO’s Have Power!<\/h2>\n

Franchise CEO’s wield a lot of power. Their yes or no decisions can and do change lives<\/strong>. In all sorts of ways.<\/p>\n

But CEO’s of franchise organizations aren’t all the same. They have unique experiences-and because of those experiences, unique business philosophies. Plus some are newer at running companies while others are seasoned veterans. The decisions they make business-wise come from different places. Make sense?<\/p>\n

For example, when it comes to franchise development-new franchise unit sales<\/a>, some CEO’s aggressively pursue obtaining new franchisees. But, some don’t. Some are quite content with only awarding a few new franchise businesses annually. Either way, the CEO’s has the final say on whether or not to award a new franchise<\/a> to a particular candidate. A candidate who’s made the decision to take on some financial risk in order to become the boss. \u00a0A candidate who’s (hopefully<\/em>) learned enough about franchising and has done enough research on the particular franchise opportunity to be ready to pull the trigger. A person who’s excited to go into business.<\/p>\n

Again,\u00a0<\/b>the CEO<\/strong> of the franchise company has the final say when it comes to awarding a franchise to a candidate.<\/p>\n

See what I mean about franchise CEO’s wielding power?<\/p>\n

The power to put<\/strong> someone in business.<\/p>\n

Or<\/p>\n

The power to not<\/strong> put someone is business.<\/p>\n

The hopes and dreams of the franchise candidate rest squarely in the hands of the CEO of the franchise concept he or she wants to be a part of.<\/p>\n

Wow!<\/p>\n

No pressure there.<\/p>\n

Franchise Company CEO’s That Do This Really Get My Attention<\/h2>\n

This:<\/strong> Franchise CEO’s who have the courage to turn away franchise candidates.<\/em><\/p>\n

That’s because it takes a certain amount of chutzpah to turn down a $35,000 check (for the upfront franchise fee<\/em>) from a franchise candidate.<\/p>\n

Why the heck would the CEO of a franchise company ever want to do that<\/em>?<\/strong><\/p>\n
