I&#8217;ve actually felt bad for them for years.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an example of why;<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;<span style=\"color: #800000;\">I just closed my 2nd Quiznos. They have ruined many, many lives. People are losing their life savings, getting divorced, losing their homes etc. Quiznos Corporate does not give a crap about its franchise owners at all. They were just concerned about opening a franchise on every street corner and now the franchise owners are suffering for it. They did not do protected territories. I hope that if anyone wants to open one, they talk to as many franchise owners as they can and they will see than less very few actually even break even. Very sad<\/span><\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Monica<\/p>\n<p>That was just one of several comments that I&#8217;ve read over the years. Monica obviously<strong><a title=\"dysfunctional franchises?\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/would-you-like-to-buy-a-quiznos-franchise-this-year-good-luck-\"> read this post about the serious\u00a0dysfunction at this fast food chain<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0and felt the need to vent a bit.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve written numerous posts about the shenanigans of this franchisor, and have only called out\u00a0\u00a0<strong>The International Franchise\u00a0Association<\/strong> one time;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>The International Franchise Association (supposedly, the self-governing arm of our industry) knows the real deal about the franchisors that are.. shall we say\u2026suspect, but they still gladly accept membership checks from any franchisor that is registered in the USA<\/em>.\u00a0&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In other words, <strong>why does the IFA keep members that have been sued numerous times, and that have had to <a title=\"franchise lawsuits\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/the-quiznos-lawsuit-settlement-number-its-only-206-million\">pay huge settlements<\/a>, around?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d be remiss, (<em>and I&#8217;d feel pretty pretty darn guilty<\/em>) if I didn&#8217;t mention one more thing related to Quiznos; rankings.<\/p>\n<p>How many franchise-related websites&#8230;how many publications, articles etc., have ranked Quiznos \u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>the # 1 or #2 franchise<\/strong><\/span>? Really? A &#8220;<em>top franchise<\/em>?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>How?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Maybe a <em>better<\/em> question is this one; <strong><em>who<\/em> are the people doing the actual ranking<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<p>An better<em>\u00a0better<\/em> question; how many current, or<em> ex<\/em>-franchisees of Quiznos bought their franchise <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>because<\/em><\/span> they saw that Quiznos was a <em>&#8220;top-ranked franchise opportunity<\/em>?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The current franchisees of the possibly defaulting Quiznos franchise chain have a lot to be nervous about, as the corporate suits at\u00a0headquarters scramble to save the franchise. It must really suck to be a Quiznos franchisee right now. But, there are a few lessons that can be learned by <strong>future franchise owners<\/strong>\u00a0all over the world. They are;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Don&#8217;t buy a specific franchise just because it&#8217;s been named a &#8220;top franchise,&#8221; somewhere<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Don&#8217;t buy a franchise without talking to current and past franchisees of the franchise you&#8217;re interested in<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Hire a franchise attorney. Have them dig around a bit.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Make sure that you have enough<a title=\"extra money\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/if-you-are-used-to-working-for-someone-else-that-means-you-are-used-to-getting-a-steady-paycheck-or-if-you-were-in-sales\"> fall-back money<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.
