{"id":27905,"date":"2018-04-20T19:35:14","date_gmt":"2018-04-20T19:35:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/?p=27905"},"modified":"2018-04-20T20:58:50","modified_gmt":"2018-04-20T20:58:50","slug":"how-franchise-opportunities-look","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/how-franchise-opportunities-look","title":{"rendered":"How Franchise Opportunities Look Depends On Where You&#8217;re Standing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/where-youre-standing.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-27919\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/where-youre-standing-620x896.jpg\" alt=\"looking at franchise opportunities from where you're standing\" width=\"472\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I just had an interesting conversation with Tom, who I met at an event I attended earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure how the band, <a title=\"ELO\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ElectricLightOrchestra\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Electric Light Orchestra<\/a> (<em>ELO<\/em>), came up, but it did. It went something like this.<\/p>\n<p>Me: &#8220;I attended two Nelson&#8217;s Ledges Freedom Festivals (<em>Ohio<\/em>) in the late 70&#8217;s, and one of them really stood out. It was the one with ELO.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tom: &#8220;<em>Heck, Joel. I worked security at that show<\/em>! I was in front of the stage.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Me: &#8220;No way!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tom: &#8220;<em>I did. It was crazy. There were thousands of people there, partying<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Me: &#8220;Wasn&#8217;t the laser light show ELO put on wild? I remember that they synced their music to the green laser lights, and they were projected right above the stage. The lights looked like the waves you see on an oscilloscope. Then they created one really thick laser beam, and shot it straight up to the full moon that was overhead. Shoot-I missed that<\/em>.&#8221; (<em>The oscilloscope-type waves over the stage<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>Me: &#8220;I guess you did-<strong>because you were guarding the front of the stage<\/strong>. That sucks. Well, anyway, it was a great show, and the laser lights were amazing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tom: <em>I do remember that ELO was good, though<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>It Depends Where You&#8217;re Standing<\/h2>\n<p>Tom and I both enjoyed seeing ELO. It&#8217;s just that I saw things he didn&#8217;t. (<em>Not because of hallucinogens<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>I saw the green laser lights&#8230;and the waves of light being projected in the sky over the stage. Tom didn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Tom saw things I didn&#8217;t see. <em>Because of where he was standing<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"franchising world\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/item-19-how-to-change-the-franchise-world-ignore-earnings-claims\">The world of franchising<\/a> is <del>kind of<\/del> like that.<\/p>\n<p>People who are looking at franchise opportunities to potentially own, see things from <em>their<\/em> point of views. From where <em>they&#8217;re<\/em> standing.<\/p>\n<p>I see things from <em>my<\/em> point of view. From where I stand as a franchise industry <em>insider<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Big difference.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>What Today&#8217;s Prospective Franchise Owner Sees<\/h2>\n<p>If you&#8217;re on the &#8220;<em>looking to buy a franchise<\/em>&#8221; side of things, this is what you see:<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/x34n8IwnM80?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0\" width=\"580\" height=\"355\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nShiny lights.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s because everything you&#8217;re looking at is new. Plus you&#8217;re excited.<\/p>\n<p>All of a sudden, you have <strong>hope<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Because if you buy a franchise&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You&#8217;ll be working for you&#8230;instead of &#8220;<em>them<\/em>.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>You&#8217;ll finally be working toward your goals.<\/li>\n<li>Your dreams.<\/li>\n<li>You&#8217;ll be the boss.<\/li>\n<li>You&#8217;ll have more freedom and control over your life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sounds great, right?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/eye-of-the-franchise-king.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-27921\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/eye-of-the-franchise-king-620x827.jpg\" alt=\"what the franchise king sees\" width=\"412\" height=\"549\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/eye-of-the-franchise-king-620x827.jpg 620w, https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/eye-of-the-franchise-king-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/eye-of-the-franchise-king-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/eye-of-the-franchise-king-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/eye-of-the-franchise-king.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 412px) 100vw, 412px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>This Is What I See<\/h2>\n<p>I see franchisors trying to <a title=\"selling\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/fast-and-furious-is-not-the-way-to-sell-franchises\">sell<\/a> franchises&#8230;which is fine.<\/p>\n<p>Except, sometimes they&#8217;re selling franchises to people who probably aren&#8217;t the best candidates. Who may be a little light, money-wise. Or who don&#8217;t have the right skills to own and operate the business. Bad! <\/p>\n<p>In addition, I see <a title=\"consulting\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/what-everyone-needs-to-know-about-free-franchise-information-and-free-franchise-consulting\">franchise consultants<\/a> presenting <strong>the wrong franchises<\/strong> to their candidates. (<em>A lot<\/em>) <\/p>\n<p>And I see authors selling <a title=\"lies in franchising\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/lies-scams-pay-for-play\">franchise books that are fake<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s more I see, but you get it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>My point is this:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Because I&#8217;m a franchise industry insider, I look at franchise opportunities in a <strong>totally<\/strong> different way than the folks who are looking to buy them. I know stuff they don&#8217;t.\u00a0<em>Things that are absolutely impossible for people who <strong>aren&#8217;t<\/strong> in franchising to know.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s why <em>smart<\/em>\u00a0prospective franchise owners buy my books, invest in my courses, and ask me to <a title=\"franchise consultations\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/franchise-consultations-the-franchise-king\">work with them 1-on-1<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In conclusion, if you&#8217;re looking at franchise opportunities, make sure you remember where you&#8217;re standing&#8230;what you&#8217;re seeing.<\/p>\n<p>And <em>not<\/em> seeing.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I just had an interesting conversation with Tom, who I met at an event I attended earlier this week.
