About Terry<\/h2>\n

Terry Franklin was<\/em> the V.P. of Network Security for the Quetwo2 Corporation. For almost 10 years, Terry was \u201cthe guy” <\/em>in the IT department.<\/p>\n

In short, he was in charge of keeping things secure for Quetwo2\u2019s customers-and there were lots of them.<\/p>\n

What’s more, Terry was well-respected and well-liked. He was unselfish, and had no problem shining the spotlight on his team members<\/a> when warranted.<\/p>\n

Until he was let go<\/b>.<\/p>\n

But why?<\/p>\n

Why did Terry get the boot?<\/p>\n

Because the CEO wanted to \u201cgo in a different direction<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition, (according to one of his colleagues<\/em>) his $200,000 salary was (all of a sudden<\/em>) deemed to be too high.<\/p>\n

Translation:<\/strong> the company had an opportunity to hire someone (younger, probably<\/em>) that they didn\u2019t have to pay as much.<\/p>\n

To say that Terry was caught off-guard would be an understatement.<\/p>\n

And man, was he pissed.<\/p>\n

3 Months Later<\/h2>\n

At least Terry was able to get a pretty decent severance package from his former company.<\/p>\n

Not only did his package include a check for $100,000 (6 months\u2019 pay<\/em>), but he received 4 months of Outplacement services. And that\u2019s how Terry came to know me; his Outplacement counselor referred him.<\/p>\n

Terry Was In Serious Career Pain<\/h2>\n

When Terry contacted me, he was in serious career pain.<\/p>\n

First of all, his firing was a complete surprise.<\/p>\n

Secondly, because he was caught flat-footed, he didn\u2019t have an updated resume.<\/p>\n
