Rome wasn&#8217;t built in a day.<\/p>\n<p>And as I said, you&#8217;ve never done this before. Give yourself some slack. Keep going.<\/p>\n<p>Keep swinging. They include:<\/p>\n<p>1. A lack of focus<\/p>\n<p>You may be spending hours and hours on your computer or Smartphone clicking popular <a title=\"best websites to find a franchise to buy\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/the-top-10-franchise-opportunity-websites\">franchise opportunity websites<\/a>, with the only goal being to find &#8220;<em>The One<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As if <em>the perfect, amazingly profitable, no way you can lose your money franchise business<\/em>\u00a0<em>opportunity<\/em> listing is literally going to jump off a web page right into your hands. <em>Riiiight<\/em>. Like that&#8217;s going to happen.<\/p>\n<p>My point is that until you know what you&#8217;re looking for&#8230;until you have created a few lists that will help you whittle your choices down to franchises that may be a good fit for you, you&#8217;re going to remain frustrated.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"learn franchising at franchise business university\" href=\"https:\/\/www.franchisebusinessuniversity.com\/online-franchise-course-offerings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I can teach you<\/a> how to make those lists, and how to use them-so you can choose the right franchise.<\/p>\n<p>2. Fear<\/p>\n<p>Admit it. You&#8217;re afraid of losing your money. You&#8217;re afraid of picking the wrong franchise.<\/p>\n<p>A franchise opportunity that looks good on the outside, but turns out to be one, big <a title=\"bad franchises\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unhappyfranchisee.com\/dickeys-franchise-graveyard\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nightmare<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One one hand, you have the right to be scared. The franchise industry is not perfect.There are franchise opportunities that are just plain lousy.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, <a title=\"dishonest people in franchising\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/lies-scams-pay-for-play\">there are people in my industry who lie and deceive<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And please don&#8217;t get me started on <a title=\"franchise consultant\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/7-ugly-truths-franchise-consultants\">these<\/a> people.<\/p>\n<p>Conversely, there are good, honest people in the franchise industry who can help you make a smart decision on a franchise to buy. Who can teach you how to <em>lower<\/em> your financial risk. Who can show you how to target legit, profitable franchise opportunities. Use them. They&#8217;ll help you sleep better at night.<\/p>\n<p>3. Readiness<\/p>\n<p>It may turn out that you&#8217;re just not ready to become the owner of a business. It&#8217;s okay; most people aren&#8217;t small business owners. They&#8217;re employees.<\/p>\n<p>As a matter of fact, if you&#8217;re currently employed, and you&#8217;re reasonable happy, <a title=\"should I keep my job?\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/good-jobs-keep-your-good-job-as-long-as-they-will-let-you\">maybe you should stay put<\/a>. Being an employee isn&#8217;t necessarily a bad thing.<\/p>\n<p>But if you&#8217;re sick and tired of <a title=\"sick of working for others\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/when-your-boss-makes-all-the-money\">helping your boss<\/a> reach his or her financial goals, like I was, and you feel franchise business ownership is something you should look into, there&#8217;s no time like the present. But you need to be ready. It takes time, money and energy to become a franchise owner.<\/p>\n<p>From <a title=\"factual franchise business articles\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sba.gov\/blogs\/contributors\/FranchiseKing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a recent article I wrote<\/a> for the U.S. Small Business Administration&#8217;s blog:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c&#8217;<em>If it was so easy, everyone would do it.&#8217;\u201d That\u2019s a true statement, especially when it comes to being the active owner of a franchise business.
