(An old, nasty rudder<\/em>)<\/p>\n

That’s what we are, you know; we’re rudderless.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

We’re all wandering around in some type of post-traumatic daze from what the last<\/em> President did to our economy. And we’ve been waiting for the current leadership in Washington DC to do something to help our still-limping economy.<\/p>\n

Nothing’s working. \u00a0N O T H I N G.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s like we’re all traveling together in this huge ship, but we don’t know where it’s headed.<\/p>\n

That’s because no one on the ship’s bridge does either. They don’t seem to have any of those all-important navigation maps close at hand. Where’s the Captain?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The franchise industry has been hit pretty hard by our nation’s economic woes; the lending environment has been choppy at best. Most<\/em> franchise buyers haven’t been able to tap into their home equity lines of credit to help fund their dreams. (Because home values have dropped sharply<\/em>)<\/p>\n

Today’s franchise buyer has to get pretty creative to get funding for a franchise start-up. Some are doing this<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I’m starting to get quite resentful about the fact that I’m still<\/em> writing about an economy that’s still<\/em> stuck.<\/p>\n

Where are our leaders? Is it too much to ask for some real leadership now? Can’t anyone<\/em> step up to the plate?<\/p>\n

I keep hearing that “it’s not up to Washington to create jobs<\/em>.” I disagree; I feel that our elected officials need to sit down with small business owners, and yes…even with the large business CEO’s and owners, and come up with some concrete plans to get Americans back to work. And, I’d like to see it done without politics getting in the way….without reelection dreams getting in the way. Enough already.<\/p>\n

I know that it’s not going to be easy. (Especially since most of them are on vacation for a month.<\/em>) I know that “the right environment has to be created for businesses to start hiring again<\/em>.” \u00a0Who is it up to to create it?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I’m not an economist. I’m not a politician. I’m a small business owner who’s sick of all the BS.<\/em> I’m sick of hearing the same old crap from our elected officials. Something has to give. Something needs to change. Maybe our political system needs a major overhaul. I’m starting to feel that a lot of us are just giving up. It’s like we’ve resigned ourselves to the fact that nothing’s ever going to change in Washington because there’s just too much money and power being thrown around. I’m really angry with both parties. Both<\/em> are to blame for the current state of affairs.<\/p>\n

I’ve been thinking that maybe I’m in the wrong field. Maybe I should look for something career-wise that would allow me to bring in a six-figure income, get most of my expenses paid for, and get a month off every summer.<\/p>\n
