How do you make sure that your spouse doesn’t blow your idea of becoming a franchise owner?<\/p>\n

First off, do you remember the “discussion<\/em>” you had over the kitchen table?<\/p>\n

This one<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Now, the answer to the question posed above is simpler than you think. You can try real hard to complicate the answer if you’d like, but the amount of energy you’ll end up expending\u00a0could light up 3 city blocks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Now, before I share the answer, I need to get some possible sexist stuff out of the way.<\/p>\n

In this post, I’m going to use the example of a male<\/strong> looking to buy a franchise<\/strong>, who just so happens to have a female<\/strong><\/em> spouse. It’s nothing personal, ladies; it’s just that 90% of the people that I provide franchise advisory services<\/strong> to fit this\u00a0scenario.<\/p>\n

Having said that, I’d really love an opportunity to work with more prospective women franchise owners. The ones I’ve worked with in the past were<\/em> great to work with.<\/p>\n

As I said, I’m going to use a man as the prospective franchise seeker, and his wife as the spouse.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Do This, Men<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

Involve your spouse from day one<\/span><\/strong>. \u00a0That’s<\/em> how to get her behind your idea, so she won’t destroy your dream. It’s as simple as that.<\/p>\n

If you don’t involve her in something this big, you risk throwing this dream of yours away.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Whether it’s a dream of always wanting to be your own boss, or it’s of the, “I’m not going to work in a corporate job ever again<\/em>,” variety…it’s still a dream. <\/em><\/p>\n

And, it’s your<\/em>\u00a0dream. Protect it. Hold onto it. Do whatever it takes to get there. Even if it includes involving your spouse.<\/p>\n

Now, I know that involving her may<\/em> slow you down a little. That’s because you’ll have some\u00a0explaining<\/em>\u00a0to do, and you’ll probably want to share all (or most<\/em>) of the data that you’ve gathered during your franchise search<\/a><\/strong> and research.<\/p>\n

What’s so bad about that?<\/p>\n

Do you know how many men (that look for a franchise to buy<\/em>) end up not<\/strong><\/em> buying one because they didn’t bother to get their spouses involved until the end? (The “end” being, check-writing and franchise loan application time.<\/em>)<\/p>\n

Here’s the answer; a lot!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Buying a franchise is a family decision<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Men; it would behoove you to keep that in mind.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Unless you want your dream to disappear, like<\/span><\/p>\n
