I’d like to tell you a story about The Burger King<\/strong>\u00ae Whopper<\/strong>\u00ae With Cheese<\/strong> I wasn’t allowed to purchase. Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because I still can’t believe it happened.<\/p>\n\n\n

 <\/p>\n\n\n

The Fast Food Urge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes we get the urge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s usually when nothing in the refrigerator is appealing. Same goes for our dry goods section. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soups are looked at. That box of Kraft\u00ae Mac + Cheese quickly transitions from a “maybe<\/em>” to a “no<\/em>.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When those things happen, the next step is a virtual tour of one of two main drags in our area. First silently, then verbally, we name the fast food franchises<\/a><\/strong>, and then “see<\/em>” the food they serve. The next step involves a simple process of elimination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me: “McDonald’s<\/em>?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Them<\/strong>: “The last time we ate McDonald’s<\/a><\/strong>, the buns were borderline stale, so no<\/em>.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me: “How about pizza<\/a><\/strong>? <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Them<\/strong>: “Nope. Just had it last weekend at a birthday party<\/em>.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me: “Would you guys like a Whopper with Cheese<\/em>?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Them<\/strong>: “I guess<\/em>.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A closed deal. To the car.<\/p>\n\n\n

What Happened When I Ordered A Whopper With Cheese In The Burger King Drive-Thru Line<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There actually wasn’t<\/em> a line. Strange. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Welcome to Burger King.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me: “Hi, I’d like to order Whopper<\/a><\/strong> With Cheese a medium fry<\/em>…”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BK employee<\/strong>: “We aren’t taking orders unless you ordered through our mobile app, or through Uber Eats<\/em>.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me: “Wait. What<\/em>?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BK employee<\/strong>: “Sorry, I can’t take your order.<\/em>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me. Angryish: “Why not???<\/em>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BK employee<\/strong>: “Because our kdmilnf urkbbss, isn’t working.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Me: “Huh? So how do I get my food<\/em>?”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BK employee<\/strong>: “You can’t. Not unless you use our mobile app or…<\/em>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In what world can a person with the willingness and the cash to purchase less than healthy fast-food, drive up to a Burger King (during a rainy, miserable-ass night in Cleveland<\/em>), and be turned away? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Call me crazy, but this is simple stuff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They have the beef and I have the money<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Obviously, the company doesn’t possess the technology to take my money and<\/strong> serve my food. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good thing McDonald’s was right next door. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
