I have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I remember going to <a href=\"https:\/\/seaworldentertainment.com\/our-brands\/seaworld\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Sea World<\/a> as a kid, and seeing &#8220;<em>Japanese Pearl Divers<\/em>.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You&#8217;d pay (<em>in advance<\/em>) to send a Japanese woman down into the depths of a pool where dozens of oysters resided. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This woman would take a few deep breaths and disappear into the void for a minute or so, and swim to the surface, oyster in hand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Big Reveal <\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"620\" height=\"413\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/pearl-of-a-franchise-620x413.jpg\" alt=\"franchise pearl\" class=\"wp-image-36864\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/pearl-of-a-franchise-620x413.jpg 620w, https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/pearl-of-a-franchise-320x213.jpg 320w, https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/pearl-of-a-franchise-600x400.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/pearl-of-a-franchise.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Now the fun part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The diver would hand the oyster to the person in charge (<em>the shucker<\/em>?), and the oyster would be opened with a special, shiny tool. And wella! There was a pearl inside. Amazing! And it was yours to keep. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> sizes may vary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Note #2:<\/strong> The pearls were <strong>always<\/strong> tiny. Not quite microscopic, but pretty damn small. Hey, what do you expect for $40? Match your skills to franchise opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, most franchise buyers ignore this important step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trick here is to search for franchises to buy <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/franchise-matching\">t<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/franchise-matching\">hat closely match your top skills and dominant personal traits<\/a>. Then try to make a franchise opportunity match based on those things. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, if you one of your top skills is your ability to train people, why not look at a franchise opportunity that would allow you to do just that. Like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sandler.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sandler Training<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Briefly, as a Sandler Training Franchisee, you would sell training programs to small businesses in your area, and do some or all of the training. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But you may not have found Sandler Training* if you only did a quick glance at the name of the franchise on a franchising opportunity portal and moved on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*Note: That wasn&#8217;t an advertisement for Sandler Training&#8230;but I do like their business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I used that franchise as an example of how to match your best skills to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/top-franchise-opportunities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a franchise type<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And speaking of fit, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sba.gov\/blog\/how-find-franchise-fits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> as I wrote in this blog post<\/a> for the U.S. Small Administration&#8217;s award-winning website, you need to do this, too:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;<em>When it comes to finding the right fit, you need to look at short-term and long-term fit.\n\nShort-term fit involves matching your strengths and skills to a specific franchise opportunity. Once you find a franchise that\u2019s a fit for your skills, it becomes one of your major reasons for signing on the dotted line.\n\nConversely, long-term fit has to do with the things that you want franchise ownership to do for you, and how they\u2019ll be a fit for the life you want to have<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bottom line?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t screw up <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/franchise-search-fast-track\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">your search for a great franchise opportunity<\/a> by going too fast&#8230;by discounting a franchise because of it&#8217;s name.
