I’m a small business owner<\/strong> and an entrepreneur<\/strong>. What I’m not? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A diplomat. Because I refuse to engage in “the dance<\/em>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dance being the thing that often happens when one party wants to tell the other party how he or she feels about something…but dances around it for too many minutes. I can’t do it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That said, if you’re an unvaccinated (or vaccinated<\/em>) small business owner, I encourage you to keep that in mind as you read this. <\/p>\n\n\n

An Open Letter To Unvaccinated And Vaccinated Small Business Owners<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dear small business owner,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like you, I’m<\/em> a small business owner. And something is bothering me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This:<\/strong> there aren’t enough of us sounding the alarm<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe it’s because pain has no memory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe it’s because we’re all so damn tired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Covid this. Covid that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Masks on. Masks off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m tired of it too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I’m more tired of living in a pandemic<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m also tired of other things. Like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bullshit conspiracy theories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And yes…the politics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But here’s the thing. Winter is coming<\/a>. Again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don’t want any small businesses to close<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But unless we get our shit together, which means making sure we’re all<\/strong>* vaccinated, Covid-19 will continue to dominate the headlines. And hurt our businesses. But there is a solution. And it’s an easy one. Get vaccinated! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Unless you have legitimate medical reasons for not getting vaccinated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, some facts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not alternative<\/a> facts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just plain, old facts. <\/p>\n\n\n

Note:<\/b> As of this writing, the mandating of vaccines in the workplace is being fought in the courts. <\/p>\n

Regardless, getting vaccinated and requiring workers in your small business to do the same, is the right thing to do. Especially if you want your business to thrive. <\/p>\n\n\n

Yelp’s Report On Small Business Closures<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Do you remember how bad things were in 2020?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September of last year (2020<\/em>) Yelp released it’s Economic Impact Report. Here are some of it’s key findings. (Courtesy of CNBC<\/a><\/em>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the end of August, 2020<\/strong>, 163,735 businesses had indicated on Yelp that they have closed, a 23% increase since mid-July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Yelp data, permanent closures had reached 97,966, representing 60% of closed businesses that won\u2019t be reopening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note:<\/strong> those numbers were only from Yelp. Other data<\/a> suggested even a larger number of closures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Again, do you remember how bad things got? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before you read this section, I need to warn you about something. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nah. Never mind. I don’t care if you think I’m taking sides. That said, I’m not slamming Trump. As you’ll see, I’m simply showing you what he said and what he did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To that end, the things I’m sharing below need to be said<\/strong>. And all of us need to be reminded of how we got here. If we don’t, we’ll be stuck in a rinse-repeat Covid-19 cycle for years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
