It takes time for technicians (<em>which franchisees hire<\/em>) to learn how to handle these sometimes-dangerous products and provide the services needed to make sure &nbsp;things look undamaged and normal again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That being the case, franchisors in this category <em>do<\/em> provide the specialized training needed to do this type of work. It\u2019s part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/the-ultimate-guide-to-the-world-of-franchising\">how franchises work<\/a> and what you get when you buy one. And sometimes the oven and the wall does too. I\u2019m talking about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmscat.com\/2019\/09\/how-exactly-does-smoke-damage-affect-the-contents-of-your-home\/\">smoke and water damage<\/a>. So now what?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the shock of what just happened starts diminishing, you make a call. This next part is important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>People who this has happened to generally <em>don\u2019t<\/em> go online to try to find a company to come over and do a cleanup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, even if they did, they wouldn\u2019t contact 3-4 companies for estimates. There\u2019s no time for that BS. And definitely no time to price-shop. That usually translates into high profit margins for the providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What they do instead is call their <a href=\"https:\/\/shareasale.com\/r.cfm?b=1526022&amp;u=187224&amp;m=96577&amp;urllink=&amp;afftrack=\">insurance company<\/a> and\/or insurance agent. And for franchisees in the cleanup\/restoration business, <em>that\u2019s where the magic happens<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<h2>SERVPRO Is A Referral Business<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Check this out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Right after you call your insurance person, she arranges for an estimator to come out and survey the fire damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once that\u2019s done, your agent contacts the SERVPRO franchisee she has a relationship with and directs the company to come over (<em>with their green SERVPRO van<\/em>) and do the necessary cleanup and restoration work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A week or so later, your kitchen looks like new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s good stuff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And it\u2019s <em>great<\/em> stuff for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/find-unhappy-franchise-owners\">the local franchisee<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<h2>With Restoration Companies, It\u2019s All About Relationships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>That kitchen cleanup job didn\u2019t go to the local SERVPRO franchisee by accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s because, the franchisee, in his business development role, started and continually nurtured a relationship with the insurance agent. And it just paid off <em>(as it probably has many times before x many insurance agents along with several other referral sources<\/em>). &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But kitchen fires are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what cleanup and restoration companies do. Unfortunately, there are lots of other damaging things that happen to homes and businesses every day. Things you may not hear about but do happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That said, the trick as a franchisee is to be aware of every disaster, big or small, that happens in your area, and make sure <em>your<\/em> company is the one being called to handle the cleanup and restoration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking of which, you should know that I\u2019ve been able to help <em>several<\/em> of my clients learn about and buy franchises in this space. And they tell me that the work is there.
