Let me explain&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/teacher-to-teacher.wikispaces.com\/Visualizing\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4319\" title=\"visualize yourself as the owner of a franchise business\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/visualize-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"visualize franchise ownership\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When you start looking around for a franchise to own, try to really visualize yourself in the business. You\u2019ll save yourself a lot of time. For example, owning a<strong><a title=\"mcdonald's franchise ownership\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/does-mcdonalds-have-a-fiendish-plot-to-ruin-kids-lives\"> McDonald\u2019s franchise<\/a><\/strong> may <em>sound<\/em> great at first, but can you really &#8220;<em>see<\/em>&#8221; yourself behind the counter of a busy fast food restaurant in which 75% of your employees are under the age of 18? <em>(I\u2019m not saying that working with teenagers is bad thing. Just ask yourself if it\u2019s what you want to be doing for the next 10-20 years.<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In my<strong> <a title=\"Joel Libava business books\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Become-Franchise-Owner-Start-Up-Lowering\/dp\/1118094026\/ref=as_li_tf_ssw?&amp;linkCode=wss&amp;tag=thefrakin-20\">book on franchise ownershi<\/a>p<\/strong> (<em>December release<\/em>), I write about how important it is to <strong>visit franchisees at their place of business<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There are several reasons that it&#8217;s important for you to take the time to do this, and you&#8217;ll learn about all of them in the book. The one that I&#8217;m focusing on today has to do with visualization. <em>You need to get into<\/em><strong> FVM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Franchise Visualization Mode<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll wager that you&#8217;ve never heard of<strong> FVM<\/strong>. It&#8217;s a term I invented that&#8217;s designed to <strong>help you increase your likelihood of becoming a super-successful franchise owner<\/strong>. It&#8217;s something that you <em>must do<\/em> before you even think of writing a check to the franchisor.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not difficult. You just need to find a way to visualize yourself as The Owner.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s one thing to look at the franchisors website, or their franchise brochure, and see pictures of franchise owners seemingly happy and successful; it&#8217;s quite another to spend a day with a franchisee.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you make a commitment, (<em>right now<\/em>) to make sure that you schedule an <em><strong>in-person<\/strong><\/em> visit with a franchisee that&#8217;s invested his or her money and time into the franchise concept that you&#8217;re thinking of investing in, <em>it will be a game-changer<\/em>. Not only will you be able to ask some of the questions that have been gnawing away at you face to face, but you&#8217;ll be able to, &#8220;<em>step behind the counter<\/em>&#8221; so to speak, and find out how it feels&#8230;or how it <em>may<\/em> feel as an owner.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After you do that, the most important question to ask yourself is this one;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong><em>Can I see myself as the owner of this franchise business<\/em><\/strong>?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you <em>can<\/em>, great. Maybe it&#8217;s for you. If you <em>can&#8217;t<\/em> easily visualize yourself as a franchisee of this concept, the best thing to do is walk away. Cut your losses. (<em>Not that your losses are that much. Some time researching the franchise, and some travel costs. So what?<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Start fresh. There are other<strong><a title=\"franchise opportunities\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/become-a-franchise-owner-this-year\"> franchise opportunities<\/a><\/strong> that may be a nice fit for you. Be patient. And remember to get into <strong>FVM<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Okay?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Have you ever walked away from something that just didn&#8217;t seem right for you?
