They cover the franchisor&#8217;s background, fees, litigation and bankruptcy history, your obligations, territory rights, and financial statements, among other things. The FTC requires franchisors to provide this information, but it does not verify that any of it is accurate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By law, every Franchise Disclosure Document (<em>FDD<\/em>) must include <strong>23 disclosure items<\/strong> that provide <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/definition-of-a-franchise\">essential information about the franchise opportunity<\/a>. These items are standardized by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in the United States. However&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>23 items in the FDD<\/strong> are not verified. What? Huh?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s right. Although the U.S. government (<em>via the Federal Trade Commission<\/em>), <em>requires<\/em> every franchise company (<em>franchisor<\/em>) registered to offer and sell franchises here to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/franchise-disclosure-document-strategy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">provide information<\/a> under each of the 23 items, that information won&#8217;t be verified by the FTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That means only one thing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>You&#8217;re<\/em> the person who needs to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/franchise-business-system-promise-reality\">verify that the information contained in the FDD is factual<\/a>.
