Now you&#8217;re the master of your own destiny.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Franchising was very appealing to you, for <strong><a title=\"several reasons for buying franchises\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/the-5-top-reasons-for-buying-a-franchise\">several reasons<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>About Control<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s great to <strong><em>own what you do<\/em><\/strong>. Being the owner of a business can be an amazing experience. It&#8217;s powerful stuff.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One great thing about a franchise business is your ability to gather crucial information about the specific one you&#8217;re thinking of buying &#8212; well before you actually write the check. <strong>If you learn how to do great franchise research<\/strong>, you&#8217;ll be in an excellent position; you&#8217;ll be able make an intelligent, fact-based decision on whether or not to move forward with the one you&#8217;re enamored with.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4865\" title=\"best franchise research ebook\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/ess-steps-ebook-cover1.jpg\" alt=\"top franchise research ebook\" width=\"161\" height=\"208\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Click the book cover\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When you&#8217;re part of a franchise system, there are lots of things that are controlled <em>for you<\/em>. You don&#8217;t have to worry about the correct colors and fonts to use in your company logo. You don&#8217;t have to worry about choosing the correct computer system for your business. If you&#8217;re the owner of a food franchise, you don&#8217;t have to invent new dishes, or constantly change your menu. You can concentrate on doing business. That&#8217;s pretty attractive to lots of would-be business owners. And lots of them are on the firing line with you, in the same franchise system, in other areas of the country. (<em>Sometimes in the same city you&#8217;re in<\/em>.)\u00a0Hopefully, you had a chance to meet a few of the franchisees when you were doing your research.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When you&#8217;re the owner of a food franchise, you&#8217;re in control of your own real estate; your sit-down restaurant&#8230;your take-out pizza shop. But, you can&#8217;t control the others&#8230;the individual shops that you don&#8217;t run.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For instance, if you&#8217;re a franchisee of Papa John&#8217;s, and you don&#8217;t own the franchise in New York City that printed out this receipt&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Capturechinkt.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4885\" title=\"papa johns franchise employees\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Capturechinkt-300x276.png\" alt=\"papa johns franchises\" width=\"300\" height=\"276\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s probably<em> a good thing<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Did you see <em>it<\/em>? Lots of people on Twitter did.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The New York Daily News reported that a<strong> Papa John&#8217;s customer<\/strong> by the name of\u00a0Minhee Cho found out that she had been described by a Papa John&#8217;s employee as \u201c<em>lady chinky eyes<\/em>,\u201d on the pizza order ticket at the restaurant. <strong><a title=\"The NY Daily News Papa John's story\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/new-york\/papa-john-customer-pizza-joint-called-a-chink-article-1.1002304\" target=\"_blank\">Read The NY Daily News story<\/a>\u00a0 <\/strong>Not good. And, not nice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re a franchisee of Papa John&#8217;s, (<em>even if you&#8217;re located 1,000 miles from NYC)<\/em>\u00a0your shop\u00a0<em>is<\/em>\u00a0going to feel the effects of this story. Word gets around fast, especially on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t think that Papa John&#8217;s franchisees are in any danger of going out of business because of this distasteful act. But, it&#8217;s a cautionary tale for anyone that&#8217;s thinking of buying a franchise.
