{"id":4958,"date":"2012-01-16T12:59:48","date_gmt":"2012-01-16T12:59:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/?p=4958"},"modified":"2022-02-01T13:38:31","modified_gmt":"2022-02-01T18:38:31","slug":"franchise-buyers-may-have-mfes-syndrome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/franchise-buyers-may-have-mfes-syndrome","title":{"rendered":"You May Have MFES"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Let&#8217;s nip this in the bud, right now&#8230;<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Are you finding it difficult to make choices?<\/li>\n<li>Are you spending more than 3 hours a day online?<\/li>\n<li>Are family members telling you that you&#8217;ve become real crabby?<\/li>\n<li>Are you starting to feel a sense of dread?<\/li>\n<li>Are you having nightmares about Monster.com?<\/li>\n<li>Do you feel like throwing up when you&#8217;re told to, &#8220;<em>Get a job<\/em>?&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you answered Y<strong>es<\/strong> to <em>any<\/em> of the 6 questions above, you may have&nbsp;acquired <strong>MFES.&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;But, try not to be too alarmed.<\/p>\n<h3>The Franchise King\u00ae Has The Cure<\/h3>\n<p><a title=\"Medicine Bottle Cap Squircle by Vaguely Artistic, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/vaguelyartistic\/18870434\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm1.staticflickr.com\/12\/18870434_8bda8d9d07_m.jpg\" alt=\"Medicine Bottle Cap Squircle\" width=\"240\" height=\"240\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>You May Have MFES<\/h2>\n<p>I guess that you want to know exactly what <strong>MFES<\/strong>is, so here goes;<\/p>\n<p><strong>MFES<\/strong> stands for, &#8220;<em><strong>Mystical Franchise Experience Syndrome<\/strong><\/em>,&#8221; and it affects&nbsp;approximately&nbsp;1 in 5 franchise business opportunity buyers. Most of time, franchise buyers don&#8217;t even know they have it until <strong>week 3<\/strong> or <strong>week 4<\/strong> of their search for a few franchises to start learning more about. And, it almost always starts <em>online<\/em>, at one these <strong><a title=\"top 10 franchise opportunity websites\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/the-top-10-franchise-opportunity-websites\">Top 10 Franchise Opportunity Websites<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Before I tell you more specifics about this <em>syndrome<\/em>, I&#8217;m going to stop for a moment, and share a few of the more common symptoms of MFES, so you can find out if you may have this debilitating syndrome.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Additional MFES Symptoms<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A lack of enthusiasm concerning becoming the owner of a franchise<\/li>\n<li>A real lack of desire to continue exploring franchise concepts<\/li>\n<li>Extreme tiredness (<em>Especially while sitting down in front of a computer<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Cold extremities (<em>Usually the feet<\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have any of those symptoms, most likely you&#8217;re in the throes of <strong>MFES<\/strong>&#8230;and don&#8217;t even know it. And, that&#8217;s one of the most&nbsp;insidious&nbsp;parts of this <em>syndrome<\/em>.<\/p>\n<h3>What MFES Does<\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<em><strong>Mystical Franchise experience Syndrome<\/strong><\/em> affects a potential franchise buyer&#8217;s sense of reality, usually rearing it&#8217;s ugly head <em>during Internet searches<\/em> for franchise opportunities to explore. And, once it appears, it&#8217;s very difficult to ignore.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/demonic_clown.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4959\" title=\"MFES rearing it's ugly head \" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/demonic_clown-180x300.jpg\" alt=\"MFES rearing it's ugly head\" width=\"220\" height=\"300\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>MFES is not a physical affliction; it&#8217;s a mental one, and I&#8217;ve experienced it first-hand.<\/p>\n<p>Year ago, when I was a <strong><a title=\"franchise brokers\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/why-i-cant-be-a-franchise-consultant-or-a-franchise-broker-ever-again\">franchise broker<\/a><\/strong>, I met, (<em>in-person<\/em>) with hundreds of local area residents who were interested in pursuing franchise ownership. They would come to my office, and I would present a couple of opportunities that I felt they would be a good match for. On more than a few occasions, these would-be franchise owners would listen intently when I came up with my ideas for them, and then get a sort of glazed look in their eyes. I could literally see their thoughts going on to newer, probably cooler places than their current place, (<em>in my office<\/em>.) In other words, they were not at all interested in the franchises that I presented.<br \/>\n<a title=\"The bored office worker by randy.marquis, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/randymarquis\/4471884544\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm3.staticflickr.com\/2725\/4471884544_6201bb3070_m.jpg\" alt=\"The bored office worker\" width=\"340\" height=\"290\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When my franchise candidates snapped out of their funks, they always asked me the following question;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong><em>Joel, do you have any other franchises you can show me<\/em><\/strong>?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Whenever my candidate asked me that question, I knew that I had some work to do. That&#8217;s because I knew that they were kind of disappointed. They thought that they would get really excited when they heard which franchises I was suggesting they look into, but ended up being bummed out. They were wondering why they even took the time to meet with a &#8220;<em>broker<\/em>.&#8221; &nbsp; &nbsp; They felt that I had let them down, because in their minds, the&nbsp;opportunities&nbsp;I presented didn&#8217;t, &#8220;<em>excite<\/em>&#8221; them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>I Really Do Have The Cure<\/h2>\n<p>Are you starting to get what I&#8217;m talking about? If you are, great&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>But, if you&#8217;re still a bit puzzled, hang with me a little longer; you&#8217;ll learn a lot about franchise buyers.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>UE&#8217;s<\/strong><\/em>. That&#8217;s right, <strong>UE&#8217;s<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>U<\/strong><\/span>nrealistic&nbsp;<span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>E<\/strong><\/span>xpectations.<\/p>\n<p><em>They&#8217;re<\/em> the cause of <strong>MFES<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Lots of people that are interested in becoming franchise owners think that the way that they&#8217;re going to find <em>The One<\/em> will include some kind of <strong>M<\/strong>ystical <strong>E<\/strong>xperience. I&#8217;m serious; some franchise buyers actually think that their lights will start flickering on and off, or they&#8217;ll glance out the window, and see an amazing display of crepuscular rays that appear to be shining down from the heavens when they find the right franchise. <em>They really think that they&#8217;re going to get some type of sign<\/em>.<br \/>\n<a title=\"Crepuscular rain by lux venit, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/luxvenit\/6108633886\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm7.staticflickr.com\/6206\/6108633886_f5e94295b0.jpg\" alt=\"Crepuscular rain\" width=\"500\" height=\"269\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, as much as I&#8217;d like every person in the world who&#8217;s about to buy a franchise experience something mystical,&nbsp;spiritual, or anything remotely related to such things happen for them&#8211;it&#8217;s just not very realistic. It&#8217;s probably<em> not<\/em> going to happen that way for most, if not all of them.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re one of those people&#8230;if you really think that, &#8220;<em>you&#8217;ll just know<\/em>,&#8221; when you&#8217;ve found the right franchise to own, you&#8217;re going to need some medicine, and fast.<\/p>\n<p>You need<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>ACDOR<\/h2>\n<p>Potential franchise buyers who have <strong>MFES<\/strong> need to get an injection.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/iStock_000009637779XSmall.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4970\" title=\"an injection for potential franchise owners\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/iStock_000009637779XSmall-234x300.jpg\" alt=\"an injection for potential franchise owners\" width=\"234\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/iStock_000009637779XSmall-234x300.jpg 234w, https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/iStock_000009637779XSmall.jpg 306w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 234px) 100vw, 234px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s no other way around it, but it works. An injection of <strong>ACDOR<\/strong> cures this syndrome in a day or two.<\/p>\n<p>In case you&#8217;re wondering, <strong>ACDOR<\/strong> stands for <strong>A<\/strong> <strong>C<\/strong>ertain<strong> D<\/strong>ose <strong>o<\/strong>f <strong>R<\/strong>eality. That&#8217;s right. The reality is this;<\/p>\n<p>When you find <em>The One<\/em>&#8230;the perfect franchise, you probably won&#8217;t know that you&#8217;ve found it, right away. There won&#8217;t be any unexplained happenings going on around you when a franchise broker, (<em>if you even end up using one<\/em>) mentions the name of a franchise opportunity. If you&#8217;re searching for a franchise online over at <strong><a title=\"franchise direct website\" href=\"https:\/\/www.franchisedirect.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Franchise Direct<\/a><\/strong>, as good as that franchise website is, I really don&#8217;t think that you&#8217;ll experience any wild technological effects when you land on what looks to be a cool franchise opportunity. If it turns out that your Uncle Frank comes up with an idea for a good franchise to start checking out, again, don&#8217;t start looking for a sign.
