A McJob, or No JOB?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><script src=\"https:\/\/tweetmeme.com\/i\/scripts\/button.js\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll put that question to you in another way;<\/p>\n<p>Would you rather have the abilty to<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13pt;\"><em> pay <\/em><\/span>your car or truck payment<\/span>, or <span style=\"color: #c00000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 13pt;\"><em>not<\/em> <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;\">pay your car or truck payment<\/span><\/span>, and end up having something<em>real special<\/em>happening in your backyard at 3:00 AM?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"June 2008 004 by ericncindy24, on Flickr\" href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/26710280@N06\/2548414386\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3054\/2548414386_cc44225bd6.jpg\" alt=\"June 2008 004\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A truck getting repossessed<\/p>\n<p><em><br \/>\nWell?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>McDonald&#8217;s is planning on hiring 50,000 workers during what it&#8217;s billing as National Hiring Day.<\/p>\n<p>McDonald&#8217;s Corporation and its franchisees plan to recruit as many as 50,000 U.S. employees to add to its roughly 600,000-member ranks on April 19th&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s pretty good news, right?<\/p>\n<p>In a recent press release, McDonald\u2019s said it would use the nationwide recruitment day to invite applicants to \u201c<em>learn that a McJob is one with career growth and endless possibilities<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That word; &#8220;<em>McJob<\/em>.&#8221; Kind of a negative one, huh?<\/p>\n<p>Did you know that in 2003, Merriam Webster added the word \u201c<em>McJob<\/em>\u201d to its dictionary and defined it as&#8211;check this out, &#8220;<em>a low-paying job that requires little skill and provides little opportunity for advancement<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>Really?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Now, I would wager that this year&#8217;s high school seniors aren&#8217;t trying to figure out a way to game the system, so that they can have first dibs at some of these $8.00 an hour jobs.<\/p>\n<p>But, some people <em>are<\/em> looking for a way to get out of their holes.
