One fine morning, as I was noisily typing away at my keyboard, my Castle<\/em> phone\u00a0rang. Here’s how the call went.<\/p>\n

“Hello, I just found your website, The Franchise King.com, and wanted to know if you can help me. I’m almost ready to buy a \u00a0franchise<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

“Well, I’m glad you found me. How can I help?”<\/p>\n

“My wife and I are looking at a children’s education franchise, and we wanted to ask you a few questions. There are only 7 of them in the US, now, so we would be among the first<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

“Well, I can try to answer them for you; I\u00a0usually offer my franchise ownership advisory services by appointment, though. \u00a0But I can talk for a couple of minutes. Go ahead. Let’s see if I can help you…I can give you some free advice.”<\/p>\n

“We have some questions about the\u00a0Franchise Disclosure Document<\/a><\/em>.”<\/p>\n

“I see. Well, I’m not a franchise attorney<\/a>, so I don’t really go too deep into the FDD<\/strong>. But, maybe I can provide some\u00a0general\u00a0non-legal guidance, though.”<\/p>\n

“Well, any help you give us would be greatly appreciated. We have to sign our franchise agreement tomorrow<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

“Tomorrow? Why do you have<\/span><\/em> to sign it tomorrow?”<\/p>\n

“Because that’s when the Franchise Fee discount ends<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

“Wait…wait a second. You mean to say that you’re calling to get some crucial questions answered the day before<\/strong> you’re going to be sending in a check for thousands of dollars and signing a 30-page legal document?”<\/p>\n

“Yes<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

“But, what will you do if you find out, (after getting some of your\u00a0questions\u00a0answered by me<\/em>) that you’ve missed a few things in your research?”<\/p>\n

“We’ll still buy the franchise<\/em>.”<\/p>\n
