{"id":808,"date":"2010-08-17T14:59:41","date_gmt":"2010-08-17T14:59:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/expandsmtest.com\/franchiseking\/the-quiznos-lawsuit-settlement-number-its-only-206-million\/"},"modified":"2016-12-16T01:48:10","modified_gmt":"2016-12-16T01:48:10","slug":"the-quiznos-lawsuit-settlement-number-its-only-206-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/the-quiznos-lawsuit-settlement-number-its-only-206-million","title":{"rendered":"The Quiznos Lawsuit Settlement Number; It&#8217;s Only $206 Million!!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><br \/>\n<a style=\"display: inline;\" href=\"https:\/\/thefranchiseking.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d8341ca59e53ef0133f32184b8970b-pi\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d8341ca59e53ef0133f32184b8970b \" title=\"IStock_000006140971XSmall\" src=\"https:\/\/thefranchiseking.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d8341ca59e53ef0133f32184b8970b-320wi\" alt=\"IStock_000006140971XSmall\" \/><\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quiznos<\/strong> business policies have been the target of angry (<em>to put it mildly<\/em>) franchisees for years, now. <strong><span style=\"color: #c00000;\">Being a franchise industry insider has it&#8217;s perks when it comes to juicy stories like this, and I&#8217;ve known the real deal about this franchise company for a long time.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Inside the industry, there are certain franchise organizations that are known to have a less than stellar reputation.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>I<\/strong>nternational <strong>F<\/strong>ranchise <strong>A<\/strong>ssociation (<em>supposedly, the self-governing arm of our industry<\/em>) knows the real deal, about the franchisors that are.. shall we say&#8230;suspect,<strong> but they still gladly accept membership checks from<em> any<\/em> franchisor that is registered in the USA. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>(<em>I&#8217;m a proud, non-<strong>IFA<\/strong> member, by the way.<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: Arial Black;\"><br \/>\nI&#8217;ll save my <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17px; font-family: Arial Black;\">bi-yearly IFA rant <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 17px; font-family: Arial Black;\">for another time. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is about <strong>Quiznos<\/strong>. This is about the Quiznos that used to hold &#8220;<strong>Free Franchise Seminars<\/strong>&#8221; all over the country, as a way to attract new franchisees. (<em>Some of the folks I&#8217;ve worked with attended them<\/em>.)<\/p>\n<p>Some may even say (<em>it&#8217;s an opinion, of course<\/em>) that it&#8217;s a little <strong><a href=\"\/would-you-like-to-buy-a-quiznos-franchise-this-year-good-luck\">dysfunctional<\/a><\/strong>, over at <strong>Quizno&#8217;s<\/strong> corporate office.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the classy execs at Quiznos have of course<strong> admitted no guilt <\/strong>in this particular class-action lawsuit. (<em>They&#8217;re just willingly bending over because of the impending extreme pleasure they&#8217;ll experienced writing checks worth millions of dollars to hundreds, if not thousands, of pissed-off franchisees. <\/em><strong>Yum.<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nHere are some of the details of the settlement, and what Quiznos will have to do, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrn.com\/archive\/quiznos-class-action-case-close-settlement\">Nation&#8217;s Restaurant News<\/a>;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Make $19.4 million in contributions to the chain\u2019s advertising and marketing trust funds between January 2009 and Dec. 31, 2012.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Launch a formal program to assist franchisees who want to sell their stores and aid franchisees who want to acquire more locations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Promise financial aid to cover franchisee costs associated with future mandates to take part in a national sandwich delivery program, if any.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Establish an annual third-party audit of the prices Quiznos charges franchisees for mandatory food products and supplies compared with prices available elsewhere, and create a formal program that streamlines and standardizes the process through which franchisees may request franchisor approval to use products or services other than those mandated by the chain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Rework the chain\u2019s franchise disclosure document to clarify the role of franchisor-owned entities in the system\u2019s supply chain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop a retraining program to help franchisees better understand the requirements of running a Quiznos restaurant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Create a system for monitoring the backlog of franchisees who have not yet opened a store<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a title=\"franchise ownership advisor\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/\">Go Here To Avoid Mistakes\u00a0<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now, this is really important<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Are you a former or current franchisee of Quiznos?<em> Please<\/em> let the community here know what you think about the settlement.
