{"id":8581,"date":"2013-04-10T14:21:24","date_gmt":"2013-04-10T14:21:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/?p=8581"},"modified":"2013-08-27T02:17:31","modified_gmt":"2013-08-27T02:17:31","slug":"growing-their-franchises","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/growing-their-franchises","title":{"rendered":"Are They Growing Their Franchises?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Graph.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8582\" alt=\"growth\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Graph.png\" width=\"390\" height=\"499\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Most <strong>franchise owners<\/strong> want to.<\/p>\n<p>But, not all of them do.<\/p>\n<p>And, that\u2019s okay.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>It\u2019s True<\/h2>\n<p>Just about everybody\u00a0I&#8217;ve\u00a0worked with over the years <i>has<\/i> told me that\u00a0they&#8217;ve\u00a0wanted to<a title=\"grow a franchise\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/great-clips-offers-great-opportunities\"> find a franchise that they can grow<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Growing a franchise business<\/strong> can be done in a few different ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Adding units-adding more locations<\/li>\n<li>Adding space<\/li>\n<li>Adding employees<\/li>\n<li>Adding territory<\/li>\n<li>Adding other franchise brands<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Franchise Growth In Theory<\/h2>\n<p>In theory, and on paper, the idea of growing a franchise business can look quite appealing. (<i>Multiplication can do that<\/i>.)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Some Hypothetical Math<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>If one franchise location = $300,000 in gross sales<\/p>\n<p>Then <em>three<\/em> franchise locations = $900,000 in gross sales<\/p>\n<p>More locations = more revenue = more profit<\/p>\n<p>Right?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Franchise Research Question<\/h2>\n<p>Question #34 of out my<a title=\"ask franchisee these questions\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/category\/top-40-franchise-questions\"> top 40 questions <\/a>to ask current franchise owners is this one:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong><em>Do you have any growth plans? Will you be adding another unit, or more space<\/em><\/strong>?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an important question to ask, and here\u2019s why:<\/p>\n<p>You need to know if the franchisees that you\u2019re talking with are growing their franchises, or are considering it.<\/p>\n<p>But, when you\u2019re calling 10-15 franchisees (<i>as part of your research<\/i>) you\u2019re going to be talking to owners that are in different stages of ownership. Some owners will be new; some will be halfway through their term, while others may be thinking of selling their businesses. So, make sure that you\u2019re looking at each franchisee you\u2019re calling on an individual basis. They\u2019re all going to be different.<\/p>\n<p>And, some just\u00a0aren&#8217;t\u00a0interested in growing their franchises.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s okay. Don\u2019t judge.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve found that some franchisees are quite content having one location-<i>one money-making location<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand,\u00a0I&#8217;ve\u00a0talked with franchise owners that <i>want<\/i> to grow their businesses, but can\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you\u2019d like to know why\u2026ask me in the comment section, below.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If <em>you<\/em> buy a franchise, how are you planning on growing it?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If<em> you<\/em> would like to increase your chances of success as a franchise owner&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"success as a franchise owner\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/joel-libava-franchise-consulting-franchise-advisor-services\"><strong>Go here<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Most franchise owners want to.
