I used to listen to Glenn Beck<\/strong> on the radio. Well before I was involved in franchising.<\/p>\n

He was kind of funny back then.<\/p>\n

Glenn Beck Today<\/h2>\n

I\u2019m not sure what happened to the guy. He’s so different. He talks about weird stuff.<\/p>\n

He’s so damn paranoid all the time<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Anyway…I wanted to ask him what happened. I also wanted him to share his opinion on franchising<\/strong>, since he kind of owns one now<\/a>.<\/p>\n

So, I had my<\/i> people contact his<\/i> people. I wanted to interview Glenn Beck on franchising.<\/p>\n

I received this reply:<\/p>\n

Mr. Beck only does interviews every other Tuesday, unless it\u2019s a leap year. He\u2019s available from 8:00 a.m. to 9:12 a.m., but he doesn\u2019t do them in-person anymore. He does them from his secret underground bunker located underneath his Blaze Network headquarters. In addition, Mr. Beck has discontinued the use of cellular devices. (That\u2019s because the US Government may be listening in.) Instead, he does interviews via texting through a private network that he owns. <\/i><\/p>\n

Passwords to his texting network are available two minutes before Mr. Beck\u2019s scheduled interviews. <\/i><\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve been approved to interview Mr. Beck, you\u2019ll receive the log-in information to our network one week before your scheduled interview is set to take place. (Remember, your password will be sent to you two minutes before the scheduled interview time. You must be logged-in to receive your password.<\/i><\/p>\n

And, remember that the end of the world will soon be upon us.<\/i><\/p>\n

Update! (June 8th, 2013<\/em>) – It seems that Beck is right. The US Government is now suspected of tracking cell phone calls.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

My interview with Beck took place 3 weeks ago.<\/p>\n

What follows is the official record of our exchange.<\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: Mr. Beck, thank you so much for agreeing to spend some of your valuable time with me.<\/p>\n

Beck: You are very welcome, Franchise King.<\/i><\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: Let me start off by telling you that I am not<\/i> a fan of yours-although I always liked the stuff you used to do on your radio show a few years back. Like when you called 7-Eleven employees at random, and asked them if they knew the answers to things that almost anyone would know\u2026but they didn\u2019t.  I think you called it More-On Trivia?<\/p>\n

Beck: Yes, Franchise King; those were the good old days.<\/i><\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: Anyway, I have a few questions for you about franchising<\/a>. The first one has to do with the business model itself. What do you think about franchising as a business model? Would you recommend that people looking to be their own bosses check it out?<\/p>\n

Beck: Franchising is a great business model, Franchise King. Regular people who happen to have a little bit of money can invest in a business that is already proven to work, and they may even be able to make some money at it. Sometimes.<\/i><\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: Mr. Beck, you said, \u201cSometimes<\/i>.\u201d What do you mean by that?<\/p>\n

Beck: Today\u2019s franchisees can only make money if the evil franchise company CEO\u2019s let them. I\u2019ve seen franchisors charge exorbitant royalties-sometimes as high as 80%. That\u2019s crazy. Plus, franchisors are out to get you.<\/i><\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: Mr. Beck, I\u2019ve never heard of a franchisor charging 80% royalties, and I\u2019ve been involved in franchising for 20 years.<\/p>\n

Beck: Well Franchise King, you obviously don\u2019t have sources like I do. It happens. I\u2019ve seen it with my own two eyes.<\/i><\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: If you say so. Next question; what is your favorite franchise business concept out there currently, and why?<\/p>\n

Beck: I\u2019d have to say, Chik Fil A.<\/i><\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: Interesting choice. Why is Chik Fil A your favorite?<\/p>\n

Beck: For one, they have great chicken sandwiches. Secondly, I like their <\/i>philosophy<\/i><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: I agree. They really take customer service seriously. Any franchise that does that<\/i> is a winner in my book, too, Mr. Beck. But, they\u2019re not a typical franchise business opportunity<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Beck: Please call me Glenn, Franchise King.<\/i><\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: No problem. Anyway, I\u2019m glad that we agree on Chik Fil A\u2019s philosophy.<\/p>\n

Beck: I actually wasn\u2019t referring to their view of the importance of great customer service. I like the fact that they close on God\u2019s day. And, that they\u2019re a food franchise. I like to stock my underground bunker with as many different varieties of food as I can. For when the world ends or the US government comes to get our guns. <\/i><\/p>\n

President Obama said, “Small-town folks deal with hardship, and it`s not surprising. They get bitter. They cling to their guns, their religions or antipathy to people who aren’t like them.” <\/i><\/p>\n

Barack, you know what? I feel safe in saying that I speak for a whole lot of Americans when I tell you I don`t need to be bitter to cling to my gun. The Constitution guarantees my right to cling to my gun during <\/i><\/p>\n

And you know what? It ain`t about hunting or the tradition of gun ownership. It`s about my fundamental right as an American to protect myself from anybody that wants to do me or my family harm. And you know what? Sometimes those people are in our own government.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Back to my interview with Glenn Beck\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: Huh? When the heck is G-d\u2019s day? And, what are you talking about-when you say that the world\u2019s going to end\u2026or that the government is going to come and get you and your guns?<\/p>\n

Beck: God\u2019s day is Sunday, Franchise King. Chik Fil A\u2019s founder said that, \u201cOur decision to close on Sunday was our way of honoring God and of directing our attention to things that mattered more than our business\u2019\u2019<\/i><\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: So, you\u2019re okay when a franchise mixes business with religion? And, you\u2019re okay with Step 4 of Chik Fil A\u2019s franchise application?<\/p>\n

Beck: Of course I\u2019m okay with franchising and religion mixing together. I\u2019m Glenn freaking Beck!<\/b> And, what\u2019s this Step 4 thing you\u2019re talking about?<\/i><\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: Step 4 in their formal franchise application<\/a> states that People interested in becoming Chik Fil A franchise owners must, \u201cPlay an active role in your church. Chick-fil-A’s owners are devout Christians and expect all of their operators to share Christian values. Operators do not need to be Christian, but must be willing to close the restaurant on Sundays, espouse Christian values and be willing to participate in group prayers during training and management meetings<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beck: That\u2019s dandy. I love it. As a matter of fact, franchisors that don\u2019t require what Chik Fil A requires of their franchisees are most likely flaming liberals. They probably hate our country, too. Plus, they consistently ignore  my warnings of the upcoming US government invasion.<\/i><\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: Aren\u2019t you going a little bit too far, Glenn? For example, I\u2019m Jewish. That means that I\u2019m not a devout Christian. You\u2019re okay with me being turned down for a Chick Fil A franchise because of my religion? And, why do you keep bringing up stuff about the US government?<\/p>\n

Beck: Absolutely. If you don\u2019t believe in Jesus Christ, you shouldn\u2019t own a franchise. I\u2019ll go one step further:  My teachings say that, \u201cAfter you become a good Mormon, you have the potential of becoming a god\u201d, (Me. God)  (From the Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pages 345-347, 354).<\/i><\/p>\n

One more thing, Franchise King: Did you know that God used to be a man on another planet? Well, I know that to be true. It says so right in The Mormon Doctrine, p. 321.<\/i><\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: You\u2019re scaring me, Glenn.<\/p>\n

Beck: I should actually be afraid of you<\/span>, Mr. Franchise King. And, I should be afraid of all the franchisors that you associate with, too. They don\u2019t want people to make money as franchisees. They want people to fail. They believe that the more people fail as franchise owners-the better. It\u2019s their socialist agenda, Mr. Franchise King. More needy people = more free stuff from the government. <\/i><\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: So, according to you, Glenn, every franchisor out there is involved in a huge conspiracy to make sure that people fail after they invest their hard-earned money in their franchises? Not only that, they\u2019re in cahoots with the US government?<\/p>\n

Beck: Right on, Mr. Franchise King. Remember what I said in 2008:<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cThe violent left is coming to our streets, all of our streets, to smash, to tear down, to kill, to bankrupt, to destroy. It is will be global in its nature and global in its scope\u201d – Values Voter Summit, November 10, 2008 <\/i><\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: One more question, Glenn; why are you encouraging people all over the US to build underground bunkers and stockpile food?<\/p>\n

Beck: Because it\u2019s<\/b> coming<\/i>.<\/p>\n

The Franchise King<\/strong>\u00ae: What<\/i> is coming?<\/p>\n

(At this point in the interview, all communications were cut off. I tried to log-in to Beck\u2019s private texting network a few more times-I really wanted an answer to that question, but I couldn\u2019t get back into his network<\/em>.)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That was the weirdest dream I\u2019ve had in a long time.<\/p>\n

Maybe it was that glass of Kool-Aid<\/a> I drank right before bed that night.<\/p>\n
