{"id":8819,"date":"2013-06-05T18:51:38","date_gmt":"2013-06-05T18:51:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/?p=8819"},"modified":"2017-11-16T22:17:02","modified_gmt":"2017-11-16T22:17:02","slug":"franchise-fit-you-will-take-a-hit-if-you-dont-really-fit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/franchise-fit-you-will-take-a-hit-if-you-dont-really-fit","title":{"rendered":"You WILL Take a Hit If You Don\u2019t Really Fit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8820\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/hits.jpg\" alt=\"You WILL Take a Hit If You Don\u2019t Really Fit\" width=\"544\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/hits.jpg 544w, https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/hits-255x300.jpg 255w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 544px) 100vw, 544px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not kidding.<\/p>\n<p>It won\u2019t be a question of<em> if<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It will be a question of how <strong><i>hard<\/i><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>A Franchise Ownership Tip<\/h2>\n<p>Don\u2019t buy a franchise just because it\u2019s a franchise.<\/p>\n<p><b>Buy a franchise<\/b> because you feel that you have a pretty good handle on what it\u2019s going to take to make it a <em>successful<\/em> one for you.<\/p>\n<p>Forget all <a title=\"franchise biz success statistics\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/shocking-franchise-success-failure-statistics-revealed\">the statistics<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Forget the fact that it\u2019s the greatest business model ever <a title=\"who invented franchising issac singer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/issac-singer-the-first-franchise\">invented<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But, don\u2019t forget that success isn&#8217;t automatic.<\/p>\n<p>For example, <a title=\"hot franchises in senior care\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/is-the-death-knell-sounding-for-senior-home-care\">just because senior care franchises are hot<\/a>, it doesn&#8217;t mean you&#8217;ll be successful as the owner of one.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>You Will Take A Hit If You Don&#8217;t Really Fit<\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s a fair question?<\/p>\n<p>Are you a fit for a pretty <a title=\"franchising\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wikinvest.com\/concept\/Franchising\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rigid<\/a> way of doing business?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8821\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/yesno2.jpg\" alt=\"button\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/yesno2.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/yesno2-320x240.jpg 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you hit the \u201c<i>Yes<\/i>\u201d button, it <i>must <\/i>mean that you have a lengthy history of following The Rules.<\/p>\n<p>But, if you <em>don&#8217;t<\/em>, why did you hit it?<\/p>\n<p>Did you hit it because you\u2019re \u201c<i>okay<\/i>\u201d with rules?<\/p>\n<p>Or did you hit that button because you <i>will <\/i>follow the rules, and you <em>are<\/em> used to doing so?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Don\u2019t hit the \u201c<i>Yes<\/i>\u201d button <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/downsized\">because you were downsized 10 months ago<\/a> &#8211; and you\u2019re job search has reached new lows.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t hit the \u201c<i>Yes<\/i>\u201d button because you have the ability to follow the rules\u2026but only in certain cases.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t hit the \u201c<i>Yes<\/i>\u201d button because you feel that if you don\u2019t do <i>something<\/i>, you\u2019re going to lose it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(<i>If you hit the \u201cNo\u201d button, we\u2019re done<\/i>.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>The Hit<\/h2>\n<p>If you <b>buy a franchise<\/b>-and you never should have, it will be <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>hell<\/strong><\/span> to get out of it.<\/p>\n<p>As a matter of fact, there\u2019s really no <a title=\"getting out of a franchise contract\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/my-big-list-of-franchises-offering-money-back-guarantees-in-2016\" rel=\"noopener\">getting out of a franchise<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Once you sign your franchise agreement-your contract, you\u2019re committed.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not like you can call one of the franchise executives at headquarters and tell them that you\u2019d like a refund because \u201c<i>things just\u00a0aren&#8217;t\u00a0working out like you had planned<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You can file <i>that<\/i> nutty idea in the \u201c<i>Never going to happen<\/i>\u201d folder located on top of your dresser.<\/p>\n<p>And, feel free to ask <a title=\"directory of franchise attorneys\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/using-the-right\">your local neighborhood franchise attorney<\/a> what his or her experience has been with clients who have wanted to make a clean exit from their franchise businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Now, I don\u2019t want you to get the impression that franchising is evil. It\u2019s not.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>The Franchise Industry Rocks<\/h2>\n<p>It\u2019s just that you signed a <i>legal<\/i> document. And, that document clearly states, that you\u2019re legally obligated to operate your business for 5-10 years.<\/p>\n<p><b>Official Franchise Agreement Example<\/b><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c<i>Except as otherwise provided in the Agreement, and unless terminated sooner in accordance with the terms and conditions of this Agreement, the term of this Agreement is ten (10) years from the date the office first opens for business or such lesser month of time as may be provided for in the lease or sublease for the premises<\/i>.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That\u2019s one hell of a sentence. (<i>It looks like a paragraph to me, too<\/i>.)<\/p>\n<p>And, you would take one hell of a \u201c<i>hit<\/i>\u201d if you didn&#8217;t honor your franchise agreement. (<i>Translation: If you walked away from your business<\/i>.)<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s because unless you were able to sell your franchise to someone, (<i>which would have to be approved by your franchisor<\/i>) you would still be obligated to pay for marketing, advertising, rent, your small business loan, royalties\u2026everything.<\/p>\n<p>So, make sure that you\u2019re <strong>a fit<\/strong> for franchise ownership.<\/p>\n<p>So, you won\u2019t have to take <strong>a hit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Idea: <a title=\"work with the franchise king\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thefranchiseking.com\/franchise-success-sessions-franchise-king\">Work with me<\/a>, so you can avoid taking a hit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&rsquo;m not kidding.
