If the school systems only knew then, what they know now&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, things<em> did <\/em>get better when the King attended broadcast school, and his creative juices really flowed there. He had no stage fright at all, and really felt that he was &quot;there.&quot;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thefranchiseking.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d8341ca59e53ef0120a8d7a454970b-pi\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"On the air\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d8341ca59e53ef0120a8d7a454970b \" src=\"https:\/\/thefranchiseking.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d8341ca59e53ef0120a8d7a454970b-500wi\" style=\"width: 155px; height: 66px;\" \/><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\nThere, actually turned out to be in a small town in <strong>Iowa<\/strong>. The King was hired on as the &quot;<strong><span style=\"color: #7f3f00;\">Assistant Farm Bureau Director<\/span><\/strong>,&quot; and his duties included;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Grabbing the soybean and corn futures prices from the news wires at 6:00am, Monday Through Friday.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Reading them on-the-air<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Reading any farm-related news that was relevant to the local farmers<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Totally screwing up the pronunciation of &quot;<a href=\"https:\/\/dictionary.reference.com\/browse\/heifers\">heifer<\/a>,&quot; which enraged the local farmers*<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>* <em>This was the Franchise King&#39;s first recorded instance of enraging an entire local population. In this particular case<\/em>,<em> no violence erupted, but the radio station did receive two or three nasty phone calls from locals who called him a &quot;dumb Yankee.&quot;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Franchise King worked in <strong>radio<\/strong>, and even in <strong>television <\/strong>for a few years, and really enjoyed it. He keeps threatening to start up <strong>Franchise King Radio<\/strong>, so we&#39;ll just have to wait and see. <em>(Can&#39;t wait for more farm reports, King)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>****************************************************************************************************<br \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Next stop was the wild world of restaurants. He was a server, worked in management, and was even a <strong>Ma\u00eetre d in Las Vegas<\/strong>, for a time.<em> (One with a burgundy tuxedo. It <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">was<\/span> the 80&#39;s, you know)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/thefranchiseking.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d8341ca59e53ef01310f3e8dd9970c-pi\" style=\"display: inline;\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Ne2500burgundyfrontprice65\" class=\"asset asset-image at-xid-6a00d8341ca59e53ef01310f3e8dd9970c \" src=\"https:\/\/thefranchiseking.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00d8341ca59e53ef01310f3e8dd9970c-320wi\" \/><\/a> <br \/>Thank you <a href=\"https:\/\/bethanysboutique.virtualave.net\/wwwpageanttuxedoscom\/id11.html\">Bethanys Boutique<\/a><br \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p>After living in Lost Wages, Nevada, and moving back to Cleveland to work in some <em>fancy schmancy<\/em> restaurants, The King entered the car business at a local Nissan franchise, and proved to be pretty adept at <strong><span style=\"color: #c00000;\">&quot;hammering<\/span><\/strong> <strong><span style=\"color: #c00000;\">on&quot;<\/span><\/strong>&#8212; rather&#8230; ah, <em>convincing<\/em> people to buy cars.<\/p>\n<p>He ended up in franchise management at a few stores, and burned out rather quickly.<\/p>\n<p>*********************************************************************************************************<\/p>\n<p>Let&#39;s quickly discuss <strong>A.D.D.<\/strong> again. Folks with<strong> A.D.D.<\/strong> generally have short attention spans. <em>(Hence the name, Attention<\/em> <strong>Deficit<\/strong> <em>Disorder!)<\/em> They get bored rather rapidly. They can burn out. The King had lots of jobs. If you know someone with <strong>A.D.D<\/strong>., this is really not that unusual.<\/p>\n<p>The really cool thing about folks with A.D.D. is this;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Even though they bounce around a lot, They do bounce back quickly.<\/strong> <strong>And are generally pretty successful people. Like;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tommy Hilfiger<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Greg Louganis<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Terry Bradshaw<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Michael Phelps<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Jackie Stewart<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Bruce Jenner<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Eleanor Roosevelt<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Ann Bancroft<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Those are just a few.
